Geraldine (Gerri) Corbliss of Barnegat passed peacefully at home on April 12 at 99 years of age surrounded by loved ones. Her faith and her family formed the foundation of her life.
Gerri never met a stranger. She enjoyed a good conversation. She loved to feed family and friends. Gerri loved to fish and she outfished everyone. She loved adventure and traveled all over the world. She loved and nurtured her plants. She loved playing games with grandkids and maybe slightly altered the rules to her advantage sometimes. And the grandkids knew it! She loved to laugh with them.
Geraldine was born in The Bronx, NY on May 15, 1926 to Mathilda and John Burns. After graduating from Cathedral High School, Geraldine went on to earn her nursing degree from St. Vincent’s School of Nursing in NYC and began her career at Lenoxville Hospital.
Geraldine met her beloved husband of 68 years, Bob, and moved to Hazlet where they planted roots and raised their four beloved daughters. Geraldine became a vibrant member of the community there where she joined the Women’s Club, bridge groups and multiple ministries at St. Benedict’s parish in Holmdel.
After raising a family Gerri and Bob moved to The Mirage in 2001. Gerri quickly immersed herself in the community, creating deep and lasting friendships. Her compassion for people in need led to her being instrumental in the creation of Care Givers at the Mirage. Her competitive nature and quick mind made her an excellent bridge partner. Her social nature drew her to Red Hats and book group where she made friendships that she cherished. Geraldine’s faith was an integral part of her life. She was an active communicant at St. Mary’s parish, Barnegat, where she served as a eucharistic minister. For many years Gerri brought comfort, prayer and communion to homebound parishioners after Sunday mass.
Geraldine is survived by her brother Harold Reilly (Skip) of NH; her four, loving daughters and their spouses, Kayce and Ed Healy, Diane McEvilly, Mary Pat and Wayne Levitt, and Eileen and Roland Eckstein; her 12 beloved grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026 from 4 to 7 PM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 W. Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ. Mass offered 10:30 AM on Monday, April 20, 2026 at St. Mary's Church, Barnegat. Private Cremation to follow.
