Frank Young Obituary

Frank P. Young age 79, of Barnegat NJ and formerly of Flemington, NJ, died on January 6, 2021.  He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Patronella Young of Lake Silkworth, PA.  Frank was born in Wilkes-Barre PA, and grew up and lived in Lake Silkworth, PA.  He graduated Lake Lehman High School in 1960.  He enlisted in the US Army from 1960 until 1963.  He was stationed in New York State and eventually sent to Germany and White Sands, NM where he built and launched Ajax and Hercules guided missiles during the Cuban Missile Crisis.  
Frank began his career at Allied Chemical Corp. Elizabeth, NJ and worked at Allied Chemical, now Honeywell Corp. for 39 years.  He held various management positions in the fluro polymer and fluorine areas including production supervisor, plant operations supervisor, and materials distribution supervisor in the Fluorocarbon manufacturing plants.  
In 1993 he joined the Morristown Engineering group and his first assignment was the construction of a plant in Baton Rouge, LA. He also worked on the multi products facility in Geismar, LA.  Additionally, Frank handled the relocation of Honeywell's amorphous metal plant from Parsippany, NJ to Conway, SC.   He also earned a patent for the Fluorination Process, in the Baton Rouge Plant in December 2000.  
Frank loved fishing and hunting in the Pennsylvania Mountains and streams and he eventually retired to the Jersey Shore.  Frank also enjoyed his motorcycle, along with cooking, baking and making belt buckles from various metals, sea shells and stones, yet his favorite past time was making wine when he retired to Barnegat. He will always be remembered for his kindness and love to his family and friends.   
Frank’s family would like to thank the staff at Seacrest Village, Little Egg Harbor, NJ for the excellent care he received and for the kindness and caring he received from their staff. 
Surviving are his loving wife of 56 years, Mary, his twin daughters Kristine DaConti and her husband Daniel of Mt. Laurel, NJ and Kathleen Alexander and her husband Robert of Saddle Brook, NJ and four grandchildren, Daniel DaConti, Allison DaConti, Samantha Alexander, and Frank Alexander. He was immensely proud of his family and leaves behind many wonderful memories.   He is also survived by his sister. Karen Hischar, Ocean View, Delaware and his brother Paul Young and his wife, MaryAnn of Plains, PA. and his brother in law, Les Sabo and his wife, Barbara of Avondale, PA  and many, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

 

Viewing will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2021 from 1-4 PM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 West Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ. Mass offered 11 AM Friday at St. Mary's Church, Barnegat, NJ. Entombment to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Manahawkin, NJ. 

In lieu of flowers, donations  can be made to Barnegat Food Pantry, Barnegat or Ken's Kitchen, Manahawkin, in Frank's name.
