Elizabeth A. Durnak

Elizabeth A. Durnak, 96, of Barnegat, NJ passed on Thursday, June 12, 2025. Born in Kearny, NJ to her late parents, Henry and Anna Werns, she raised her family in Linden, NJ. Predeceased by her first husband, Norman Steele, she married John Durnak in 1967, who predeceased her in 2016.

Elizabeth had many interests, she enjoyed watching football and was a true fan of the New York Giants. She also enjoyed going to Atlantic City as well as playing cards. Her outgoing and fun personality made all feel welcome, and the fact that she could cook made for great memories of family gatherings. Though shopping was high on her list of favorites, nothing compared to how she cherished being with her family.

Surviving are her five children and their spouses, Patricia and Ken Tomczyk, Norman and Marie Steele, Barbara and George Beninati, Helen and Nick Prato, Erna and Mike Cohen; six grandchildren, Jaime, Jonathan, Donovan, Stacy, Anthony, Nicholas; seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025 from 4 to 7 PM and Tuesday, June 17 from 10 to 11 AM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 West Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ. Mass offered Tuesday, 11:30 AM at St. Mary's Church, Barnegat, NJ. Interment to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Manahawkin.
