Edward M. Mikos, 100, of Barnegat, NJ passed peacefully at home on Saturday, August 9, 2025. Born in Harrison, NJ to his late parents, Wladslaw “Ed” & Jozefa “Josephine” Mikos, where he attended Washington Grammer School and Harrison High School. He was the 7th of 10 children and as a young man he enjoyed travelling to Manhattan with his friends because of the excitement and diverse entertainment.
Ed served in the US Navy during World War II and remained a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He resided in Iselin, NJ for 46 years and was recruited by his former boss to return to the American Oxygen Co. in Harrison where he had been employed before the war. He worked his way up to management and retired after 38 years as a member of the Teamsters Union Local 478. Ed moved to Barnegat, NJ in 2000.
He had been an accomplished bowler, reaching a high score of 278 and also enjoyed watching football and Rutgers Girls Basketball, along with his beloved late wife of 69 years, Edna Mikos, who predeceased him in 2023. Surviving are many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 16, 2025 from 8:30 to 10 AM at the Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 W. Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will follow 10:30 AM at St. Mary’s Church, Barnegat. Interment and Military Honors to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. (www.BarnegatFH.com)
