Dorothy Callahan Obituary

Dorothy M. Callahan (nee Le Francis) 1942-2020

Dorothy (Dottie) Callahan gained her wings on Wednesday April 29,2020 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Her loving, vibrant spirit will be missed by many. Dorothy’s hometown was Newark, NJ. She was a proud graduate of Good Counsel and Blessed Sacrament Commercial. Newark was also where she was a dedicated employee at Kresge’s department store and met her predeceased ( 2003 ) husband Michael J. Callahan Sr. Her married life was spent in Bloomfield, NJ where she resided until 2013, before moving to her final residence in Barnegat, NJ. Dorothy will be reunited in the peace of heaven with her parents Louis C. Le Francis, Sr. and Bridget ( Masterson) Le Francis. She will also be joined with her loving predeceased sisters Maureen (Le Francis) Madden, Bernadette ( Le Francis) Peslak, and her brother Louis C. Le Francis. She will also greet her beautiful predeceased nieces Michelle ( Le Francis ) Fox, and Jeanie Le Francis. Her surviving siblings are William J. Le Francis, Robert B. Le Francis, and Monica ( Le Francis ) Wegeler. Dorothy will forever be prayed for and remembered by her 17 nieces and nephews along with her four children. Among them are her daughter Bridget M. ( Callahan) Wallin of Barnegat, NJ her husband Carl and children Joe, Kiera, and Aiden. Her daughter Maura K. ( Callahan) Frey of Barnegat, NJ her children Sloane and Connor, sons Michael J. Callahan Jr. of Toms River, NJ and Sean P. Callahan of Bloomfield, NJ, and his daughter Minnie Pearl. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to the Alzheimer's Association®.
