Donald Charles Hull, known to most simply as Don, passed away peacefully at home on December 25, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Even in his final days, Don faced life the way he always had—with strength, humor, and a full heart.
Born on June 28, 1950, in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, Don grew up in Levittown, PA, where his love of sports and camaraderie took root early. He played Little League baseball with Levittown American and football for the Bray Brothers in Fallsington, PA. Don was a proud graduate of Pennsbury High School, Class of 1968.
Following graduation, Don served his country in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970, stationed in Germany. After returning home, he attended Bucks County Community College and went on to build a long and respected career in loss prevention and security. He retired in 2022 as Supervisor of the Security Department of Ocean County, marking 25 years of dedicated service.
Golf was one of Don’s greatest passions. He played courses near and far and was a proud member of Atlantis Golf Club, where he could often be found enjoying several rounds a week with his golf buddies. When not on the course, Don was cheering loudly for his beloved Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, and NASCAR racing.
In the kitchen, Don was affectionately known as “Chef Don”, a true Grill Master who could serve up a legendary steak. Weekend breakfasts were a highlight, especially for the grandchildren who eagerly competed for the coveted sous-chef role. Don was generous, endlessly funny, and a master storyteller—capable of making a room laugh until tears flowed. If there was a party happening, you could be sure Don was right in the middle of it.
Don was actively involved with American Legion Post 493 in Tuckerton, NJ, and he and his partner Susan were members of the MICA Club in Mystic Islands, NJ, where they enjoyed playing shuffleboard together. Don also loved being a DJ, spinning music for Legion events and private functions alike. He had a gift for setting the mood and getting the party started.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Betty Jane Linn Hull and Erven Kimmel (Bruce) Hull. They are now reunited, and their love and legacy live on through the many lives they touched.
He is survived by his partner-in-life of 17 years, Susan Aiken-Beckman; his sister Kathryn Hull Ross and brother-in-law Robert Ross; his son Bruce “David” Hull and his wife Georgia of Clemmons, NC; and his daughter Alexandra Hull and her partner Richard Stein of Little Egg Harbor, NJ. Don was a proud grandfather to Christopher Hull of Clemmons, NC, and Arianna Stein of Little Egg Harbor, NJ.
To his nieces Jayne Miller and Jenny Ross Smith, nephew Robert Ross, and great-nieces Lauren and Devon Miller, “Uncle Don” will always be remembered with love, laughter, smiles, and more than a few giggles.
Don will also be deeply missed by his cherished “found family,” including Susan’s siblings and their families, her children Lisa Bistline and husband Jason, Beth Beckman and husband Ryan Casey, and Seren Beckman. He was a beloved “Grandpa” to Lauren and Kaylie Bistline, and a treasured “DonDon” to Seamus and Roberta Casey.
Private arrangements have been made.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Don’s memory to the American Cancer Society or Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
Don’s life was filled with love, laughter, music, and good stories—and those who knew him will carry all of that forward.
