Donald Joseph Griffin

Donald J. Griffin, 69, of Barnegat, NJ, passed peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 8, 2020. Born in Jersey City, NJ, to his late parents, Donald and Claire Griffin, he attended Hudson Catholic High School where he co-captained the football team and then went on to graduate from St. Peter’s University. After meeting the love of his life Adeline they decided to move down the shore to start a family creating the lasting bond of the Rogers Court crew.

Don spent 25 years in computer programming earning the position of Vice President at Salomon Brothers. After a much needed break he spent the remaining years of his career in financial planning before retiring. His love for sports, music and most of all his family were evident by all those he met. He loved a good debate, lived unapologetically and was always willing to lend a hand to whoever needed it – his motto was always just do the right thing and be a good person.

While he epitomized the hashtag #girldad there was nothing that brought him more joy than his grandson Griffin. He was devastated to learn he would not be able to see Griffin grow up so we ask all of you to help us keep Don’s memory alive so Griffin knows what a truly wonderful and special man Don was.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Adeline; loving daughter, Kaitlin, and her husband, Tim Stebbins; cherished grandson, Griffin; brother, Paul, and wife, Laurie Griffin and their 3 daughters Emily, Elizabeth and Mary Kate and sister, Martha Griffin.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Heart Association or Planned Parenthood in Donald's name may be made.
