Dominick Riccio Obituary

Dominick Riccio, 89, of Barnegat, NJ passed on Friday, February 9, 2024.  Bishop Dominick Riccio (89) of Barnegat, NJ passed away on February 9th, 2024 surrounded by his family.  He was the eldest of 7 children born to Frank and Anna Riccio on May 20th 1934.  When he was a young boy he worked in his father's butcher shop.  He was gifted with a wonderful singing voice and even recorded several records.  As a high school boy he joined the CYO at Holy Rosary Church and was picked for the honored role of Jesus in the church's Passion Play.  He appeared in 25 Radio plays and 30 Television plays over 3 years.  He even considered becoming a priest until he fell in love with another CYO Passion Play member Clare Esoldi.  They married in May of 1958 and were blessed with 4 children.  Dominick worked as an Account Executive for many different insurance companies eventually owning his own Insurance Agency.  At the age of 35 he attended a prayer meeting that changed his life.  After a beautiful and dramatic personal experience of the power and presence of the manifestation of God all around him he turned to scriptures.  He felt an overwhelming desire to share the love and faith in Jesus to everyone.  He felt the passages of the Bible seemed to come alive on the pages and began to know as God spoke to his heart as he continuously speaks to all of us.  He was ordained a Deacon on December 14th, 1974 at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Newark, NJ.  He was among 77 who received the Sacrament of Holy Orders.  His first assignment as a Deacon was at St. Joseph's RC Church in East Rutherford, NJ.  He went on to serve many other churches in northern NJ for the next 30 years.  After selling his Insurance Agency, he worked as a job developer in Hudson County.  He then retired and moved to Barnegat, NJ.

Upon meeting several married priests who belong to and follow the Old Roman Catholic Church he then became ordained as a married priest and then on December 6th, 2014 was ordained a Bishop in the Old Roman Catholic Church.  He is survived by his wife Clare, his daughter Dana Blom and her husband Doug Blom, his daughter Marla Riccio Strout, his sons Damon Riccio, Jason Riccio and his wife Amy, his granddaughters Shauna Meany and her husband Ross Meany and Sara Blom, his great grandsons Jackson and Connor Meany.  He is also survived by his sisters Claire Maglori, Josephine Riccio, Francis Daletto, Anna DePremio and her husband Bill DePremio along with many nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by his parents Frank and Anna Riccio, his brothers Pat Riccio and Frank Riccio, Jr.
