Diana Schalk (née Chuck), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away surrounded by her loving family. Born in Jersey City on August 23, 1947 into a large and loving family, Diana moved to Kearny as a child and raising her family there. Diana had a creative spirit that shone through her work as a florist at Lee’s Florist and Green, Green & Flowers, where she spent many years bringing beauty to others through her floral designs. She also worked in the radiology department at West Hudson Hospital in Kearny.
Diana is predeceased by her parents Felicia and Samuel Chuck and sisters, Helen and Dorothy, and her brothers, Joseph, Samuel, John, and Edward.
Diana was known for always dressing impeccably for every occasion. A true lover of the arts, she found joy in attending shows and could often be heard singing Broadway tunes. She was an avid supporter of women’s college basketball and any activity her grandchildren participated in. Above all, Diana cherished her family.
She shared a beautiful life with her devoted husband of 55 years, William, and took great pride in her children, Jacqueline and David, her son-in-law Brian, and her treasured grandchildren, Nathaniel and Madeline. Diana is also survived by her siblings Elaine Kelly (George), Paul Chuck (Mildred), Anthony Chuck (Patricia), Chester Chuck (Linda) and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Time spent with her loved ones brought her the greatest happiness. Diana’s love, kindness, and elegance will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
To honor Diana’s wishes there will be no funeral service and her ashes will be scattered at her favorite beach where she spent many summers with her
family. I invite you to please privately celebrate Diana’s memory in your own ways. I know she will be with us all in spirit. Thank you for understanding during this difficult time.
