The world became a brighter place when Debra Ellen Duffy was born. She left us much too soon January 14, 2023. Debra was welcomed with love by her parents, Lona and Robert Duffy on April 13,1962. Deb was born in Ridgewood NJ, grew up in Waldwick and later resided in Butler and also California. She attended Waldwick High School, Rutgers and Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Debra retired from a career she loved as Senior Director of Human Resources and Administration at Elusys Therapeutics. She relocated permanently to Barnegat N.J. to be with her partner, Rich Lauretta. After earning her boating license she later joined the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.
Debra spent most of her time on LBI and Barnegat Bay boating, fishing, clamming and enjoying seafood. Along with her friends she regularly visited her favorite restaurants: Mud City, East Bay Grill, Lefty's and the Barnegat Diner. Most of her life she enjoyed spending time with her mother, Lona, who was her best friend. Debra was a smart, funny, witty, and vivacious lady with a kind heart.
She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Lona (Campbell) Duffy, her dear brother Robert, and her beloved cat Cali. Deb is survived by her partner, Richard Lauretta; Her sister, Donna Andersen; brother-in-law, Norman Andersen; nieces, Mackenzie, Campbell and Mallory; nephews, Gavin and Maxwell. Debra also leaves behind many very dear friends and her fur babies, Stormy and Snowy.
Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects at the Memorial Gathering on Saturday, January 28th, 2023 from 12-1 PM at the Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 West Bay Ave., Barnegat NJ 08005.
A memorial luncheon will follow.
