Daniel Bacsik Obituary

Daniel (Danny) Bacsik, 18, of Waretown, NJ died in a tragic traffic accident on September 29, 2023 in Newark, Delaware.

Danny was born on December 31, 2004 in Toms River, NJ.  Danny attended elementary school in Waretown, NJ, Southern Regional Middle School in Manahawkin, NJ and graduated from the Marine Academy of Environmental Science in Manahawkin, NJ, class of 2023.  Danny was a freshman studying engineering at the University of Delaware.  Danny’s dream was to become a Mechanical Engineer and could not wait to purchase his first Mustang.

Danny was diagnosed with leukemia in August 2008 at the age of 3 ½.  He spent the next 3 years battling cancer, successfully ending treatment in November 2011.  Danny suffered so much during this time but proved himself to be smart, strong, and resilient.

Danny began his journey in scouting in Cub Scout Pack 42 in Waretown, NJ in September 2011 and moved to Boy Scout Troop 61 in Manahawkin in March 2016.  Danny enjoyed everything that scouting had to offer.   He did not miss a summer camp and managed to earn 39 merit badges.  On October 27, 2022, Danny achieved his goal of earning scouting’s highest rank, Eagle Scout.  His Eagle Scout project was very close to his heart.  He built a memorial garden for the children of Ocean of Love that passed away from childhood cancer.  This was Danny’s way of giving back to Ocean of Love for all that they did for him and his family during his years of treatment.

Danny worked part-time for WaWa in Barnegat, NJ from May 2021 until his passing.  Danny was a devoted NY Giants fan and enjoyed attending a couple of games each season.  He stood by his team win or lose.  Danny had his own boat, “Bacsik-Ly Mine”, and loved spending time on the water.  He could be found fishing, clamming, cruising or just hanging out on the sandbar. He also loved his car and made many modifications to make it his own. Danny loved music and going to the movies.  Danny also loved all things Star Wars having watched all the movies several times.  He built many Star Wars Legos that are still proudly displayed in his room.  Danny had several close friends and they spent their time boating, playing basketball, playing video games, and going to Six Flags.  They all enjoyed their take-out Pan Asia dinners of General Tso’s Chicken.

Danny was a conservative registered Republican and a die-hard Trump supporter.  He was looking forward to voting for Trump in the next election and was hoping to attend a Trump rally.

Danny had expensive taste and was loyal to all things Nike.  He managed to collect over 25 pairs of Nike Air Jordans.  He could also coordinate his outfit with a pair of his sneakers.  He even gifted two pairs to his father and over 10 to his mother.  He always wanted everyone to be in style.

Danny loved his family.  He enjoyed football and boating with his dad and he went to several music concerts with his mom.  He loved being his mom’s dance partner. Danny also enjoyed movies and dining out with his brother. Nicky followed Danny into scouting and they were able to attend many scouting events together.

Danny is survived by his loving parents, Matt and Helene Larkin Bacsik of Waretown, NJ and his brother Nicky also of Waretown.  He will also be missed by his paternal grandmother Dorothy Bacsik of Waretown, NJ, his maternal grandmother Ruth Larkin of Barnegat, NJ, his godparents Eugene and Gloria Szynal of Howell, NJ.  He will also be missed by his close friends Logan, Charlie, Richard, James and TJ. All of his other friends, schoolmates, scouts and co-workers will miss him dearly.
