Charles T. Reebe, 82, Longtime South Plainfield Resident and Mechanic
Charles T. Reebe, 82, of Barnegat, NJ, a retired mechanic, who had a passion for restoring classic cars and NASCAR racing died Friday, September 5, 2025, at Hackensack Meridan Hospital surrounded by family near his home in Barnegat, NJ.
Born in Staten Island, New York, he moved to South Plainfield at the age of 11. Charles (Chuck) started his career working as a mechanic alongside his father, Charles D. Reebe, where he worked as a mechanic on several modified stock car teams that raced at Weissglass Raceway in Staten Island in the 1960s. He went on to work as a mechanic and service manager for multiple Jeep and Renault dealerships until he retired in 2003.
He was also a retired Lieutenant for the South Plainfield Special Police where he assisted law enforcement with activities to preserve peace and order, crowd and traffic control, and protect life and property.
In most recent years, Chuck enjoyed playing billiards at the Mirage Clubhouse with a group of friends. He also loved woodworking and building replicas of NJ lighthouses.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn Reebe; daughters Lisa Lalor and Laura Reebe; son-in-law Michael Lalor; daughter-in-law Sharon Cost; and grandchildren Michael Lalor Jr., Abigail Lalor, Kaitlyn Lalor, and Shane Cost-Reebe.
Chuck will be remembered for his sense of humor, ability to fix anything, his work and enthusiasm for cars and NASCAR Racing.
A private family service will be held in his memory.
