Charles Gallagher Obituary

Charles F. Gallagher, 78, of Barnegat, NJ, passed on Friday, May 15, 2020 at Southern Ocean Medical Center of Manahawkin, NJ. Born in Newark, NJ, to his late parents, George and Madaline (Reichert) Gallagher, he was a US Navy Veteran of the Vietnam war and formerly resided in Maplewood, NJ, where he worked for the Police Department. Charles was head of the Juvenile Bureau before being promoted to Lieutenant. He was also a First Aid Squad instructor and volunteer for Maplewood. He resided in Monmouth and Ocean counties for many years before retiring to Barnegat, NJ, where he was a member of the American Legion Post 232. He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Cheryl; his loving step-daughter, Tracy, and her husband, Mark Sauerbaum; three cherished grandchildren, Shelby, Jeremy and Logan; many loving nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his brother, George Gallagher and sister, Barbara Seplak.

Viewing will be private. Interment will be held at NJ Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
