Arlene Marie Steinhauer, 93 of Galloway Twp, NJ went home to the Father peacefully while being surrounded by her loved ones on Friday, May 2, 2025.
Arlene was born on August 12,1931. She and her husband Ronald were both “Born and bred in Greenwich Village, NY NY” as they would fondly say to any who would ask their birth place. They married in 1950 and had 5 children. Later, they moved to NJ where she would become a real estate agent for Weichert Realtors in Ocean County.
Not long after Ronald passed in 1990, Arlene moved to Hudson Florida, where she began a new chapter in her life. She enjoyed new friends and spent time with family members living only blocks away from each other. There she managed a gift shop and worked in different capacities to protect the rights of the unborn. She found it very important to keep up to speed on world events, government and local news.
Her greatest joy was being grandmother to 18 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She would often declare she loved each of them the most!!
She loved Christmas time and said it was her favorite time of year. She would always make sure that each of her children and grandchildren understood that it wasn’t about gifts but the gift of God, Jesus Christ.
She experienced many health challenges in the beginning of this year and after living in Florida for 30 years, she moved back to NJ on Valentine’s Day to be closer to her N.J. family. Arlene began a new chapter of faith in God, finding that true peace was found in Him alone and was excited to learn more and more in His Word.
She was beloved by all those who tended to her at Ridgewood Senior Living at Historic Smithville. She always wanted to know about her caregivers and was genuinely interested in others’ lives.
As for all her children, in these past few months it has been a privilege to see our mother at 93 years of age, embrace change, become fearless, courageous, and hopeful for eternal life!
“O Boy!” Mama, We Love you!
Arlene is predeceased by her beloved husband Ronald and son Daniel. She is survived by her children Denise (widow of Gene), Ronald (Linda), Cheryl (James) and Stacey (Tony). She was also a beloved grandmother to Gene, James, Sean, Erin, Ryan, Joseph, Mary, Ronald, Mary, Jennifer, Eric, Melissa, Michael, Ryan, Matthew, Margaret, Kathrine, and Anthony, and 21 great-grandchildren!
Visitation with family and friends will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM with a Funeral Service to begin at 10:30 AM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 West Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ. Interment to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Toms River, NJ. (www.BarnegatFH.com)
