Antionette Mary Roe, loving mother of four and grandmother of six, passed away at home on Monday, January 29, 2024, at the age of 85.
Toni was born in New Rochelle, NY in 1938 to Anthony and Kathleen (nee Short) Immediato. She was the youngest of four children – brothers Carl and Michael, and sister Kathleen.
Toni met the love of her life, Brian Roe, also of New Rochelle, when he delivered the daily paper. They were married on June 6, 1959 at St. Gabriel’s church in New Rochelle. In the ensuing years they had four sons, Brian Jr, Michael, Kevin and John, and moved to Mahopac, NY where they met a wonderful group of friends who were also raising young families. When Brian Sr. was offered a chance at advancement with his employer, AT&T, the family moved to Bridgewater, New Jersey.
Toni was a devoted wife, and mother who was active in her children’s lives. She was a Cub Scout den mother, and often volunteered for school activities.
When the kids got older Toni was able to find the time to pick up tennis and golf. She was a natural athlete with a keen intellect who loved to compete. Often underestimated due to her small stature and quiet demeanor, her opponents would be incredulous when Toni sank a 15 foot putt or made a drop shot that would land just over the net. Her sporting accolades include Somerset County Women’s Doubles Champion, and multiple winner of the Lion’s Paw Golf Club Women’s President’s Tournament Trophy in Ocean Ridge North Carolina.
In her later years, Toni was a devoted and selfless caretaker of her husband Brian as he struggled with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was beloved by all and will be dearly missed.
Toni is survived by her sons Brian Roe Jr. of Bridgewater NJ, Michael Roe and his wife Lisa, of Princeton NJ, and John Roe and his wife Denise, of Whippany NJ, as well as granddaughter Maddie Roe and her husband Connor MacIsaac, granddaughters Kathleen Roe and Dana Roe, and grandsons Kevin Roe, Benny Roe and John Roe, Jr.
Should friends desire, contributions may be sent to Cure Alzheimer's Fund.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024 from 5 to 8 PM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 West Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ. Mass offered Saturday, 9:30 AM at St. Mary's Church, Barnegat. Interment to follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Bridgewater, NJ. (ww.BarnegatFH.com)
