Alfonso "Funzi" De Luccia Obituary

Alfonso “Funzi” A. DeLuccia, 91, of Manahawkin, NJ passed peacefully at home on Sunday, December 18, 2022. Born in Paterson, NJ to his late parents, Matteo and Fiorentino DeLuccia, he graduated from Paterson Vocational High School and served in the Unites States Marine Corps as a cook and was stationed in Florida during the Korean War. Al married Claire Canger on May 17, 1959 and worked in electronic assembly prior to retirement in 1993.

A parishioner of St. Mary of The Pines Church in Manahawkin,  Al loved fishing, crabbing and bowling and was involved in numerous activities such as the Lionshead Lake Property Owners Association, the Pompton Elks Lodge 1895 where he earned Elk of the Year and Officer of the Year, American Legion Post 511 of Stafford Twsp., where he served several terms as Second Vice Commander; he was a member of St. Mary’s Adult Group, the Fawn Lakes Community Association’s Men’s Club and the Romeo Club of Stafford and LBI.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Claire DeLuccia; three loving daughters, Teresa Robinson (David), Donna Zeoli (Anthony), Claire DiMauro (Donald Albertson); three cherished grandchildren, Michael Zeoli (Samantha), Steven Zeoli (Samantha Deweil), Gina Marshall (Nic); cherished great grandson, Maverick Zeoli; two brothers, John DeLuccia, Carmen DeLuccia (Beverly); sister-in-law, Carol DeLuccia. He was predeceased by three brothers, Anibile, Ernest and Anthony DeLuccia.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023 from 11 AM to 12 PM with a Memorial Mass to follow 12 PM at St. Mary of The Pines Church, 100 Bishop Way, Manahawkin, NJ. Entombment of cremains will be private at the Bg. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery on a later date. Barnegat Funeral Home in charge of arrangements, (www.BarnegatFH.com)
