Albert T. Sodaro, 83, of Manahawkin, formerly of Paramus, passed away on Saturday, October 19th. Albert was born to the late Charles Sodaro and Fannie D’ura of The Bronx New York in 1935. He is survived by his wife Theresa Nardino, his son Albert C. Sodaro, daughter in law Desiree Daniels, daughter Angela and son-in-law Salvatore Munafo, Daughter Keo and son-in-law Dara Seng. He is survived by his beloved grandchildren, Amara Seng, Salvatore and Francesca Munafo, Cole Sodaro, Odom Seng, Nicholas Munafo, Frankie Sodaro, Charlie Sodaro and Gianni (deceased) Sodaro. Mr. Sodaro was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force achieving the rank of Airman First Class. After his service, Mr. Sodaro joined the Paramus Police Department and served as a Patrolman until he was later promoted to Detective in 1962. During his service in the Paramus Police Department he served as PBA President and State Delegate. Albert was instrumental in establishing PBA local 186 and implementing chapter 88 for retired police officers in the State of New Jersey. He served in this capacity until his retirement in 1972. In the years following he served the community by sitting on the Paramus Zoning Board. He further contributed to his community as chairman of the substance abuse committee in conjunction with D.A.R.E. He also sat on the Board of Directors for the Mid Bergen Mental Health Center. Mr. Sodaro holds a certificate as a paralegal from the New York University (NYU) and served as a realtor for Crestwood Realty in Paramus, NJ. Albert was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and The Manahawkin Italian American Club. He loved fishing, golfing, boating and spending time with his family.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 PM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 West Bay Avenue, Barnegat, NJ 08005.
Funeral Mass will be offered Thursday, October 24, 2019 at 11:00AM at St. Mary of the Pines Church, 100 Bishop Way, Manahawkin, NJ 08050. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Manahawkin.
