Walter Dudek, 82, of Barnegat passed May 18, 2019. The son of John and Veronica (Sliwinska) Dudek, he was born and raised in Elizabeth, NJ, where he graduated from Thomas A. Edison Vo Tech. Soon thereafter, he proudly served in the US Air Force, where he was stationed in Bermuda, Libya, and Germany. He was employed for many years as a toolmaker, eventually retiring from Kleiner Metal Specialties in South Plainfield.
He married the former Rosemarie Misiur, to whom he was married for 54 years. They resided in Piscataway for over 37 years, before retiring to Barnegat.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by beloved children Alicia and Jurij Mykolajtchuk, Andrea Dudek, Kevin Dudek and Jing Harada; cherished grandchildren Paul, Catherine, Jayden and Tyler; and brother Chester Dudek. Walter was predeceased by a son, Keith Dudek, and 9 siblings.
Walter was a firefighter with North Stelton Volunteer Fire Company in Piscataway and a member of the choir of St. Mary’s Church in Barnegat. He was an avid birder, and even built bluebird boxes for family, friends, and Cloverdale Park in Barnegat. Walter enjoyed the water – fishing, crabbing, boating, swimming - and shared his love by teaching his children, grandchildren and others to crab and fish.
His pastimes included bowling, horseshoes, and dancing (Polish polkas, rumbas, and waltzes). Further on, he greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and hosted the famous annual Dudek Fourth of July picnic. Other interests included gardening and travel. In addition, Walter loved to sing, and was known for his beautiful voice.
