Roger J. Salimbene

Roger J. Salimbene, 84, of Barnegat passed, October 5, 2018. Formerly of North Brunswick, NJ he is a US Marine Corps Veteran of the Korean War, and a recipient of the Purple Heart.

Roger retired from Preston 151 trucking line. Prior to that, Roger owned his own radio business in North Brunswick, New Jersey. After retirement, and moving down to the Barnegat area, he had the opportunity to become a member of the Starbound dance talent With Don Suppa and his family. Through many years being in Starbound, he met wonderful people and traveled throughout the country. Through this experience, he had many memorable stories to share with his family. He loved the excitement of helping others, making people laugh along the way. Once he retired from Starbound, he dedicated the latter of his life to spending time with his family and friends. He always looked forward to the next vacation destination with his family. His number one vacation spot was Disney World followed by traveling the seas on cruise ships. He was a veteran of the Korean War and received the following medals during his services: Korean Service Medal with two stars, Purple Heart, United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Roger Salimbene will be a man remembered for his bravery, selflessness, and love for all. He will forever have a place in our hearts.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 62 years, Barbara (Smith) Salimbene; two loving children, Richard Salimbene and Rita McGinn; five cherished grandchildren, Richard, Christopher, Patrick, Kaitlyn and Heather; three cherished great grandchildren, Aubree, Caden and Siena; his devoted brother, Anthony and wife Christine Salimbene.

Viewing Wed., Oct 10, 2018 from 4 to 8 PM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 W. Bay Ave., Barnegat. Mass offered Thursday 10 AM at St. Mary’s Church, Barnegat. Cremation private. In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Jude Chidren's Research Hospital appreciated.
