Robert “Bob” Boyd of Barnegat, NJ, passed away at his home on December 1, 2018 with family at his side. He bravely confronted and fought melanoma cancer for 7 ½ years. He was born on July 29, 1943, and resided in Barnegat for the past 15 years, having moved to Heritage Point from West Long Branch in 2003. Bob served in the US Navy aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Franklin D. Roosevelt, from 1961 to1964 as an Electronics Technician. He never ceased to be grateful for his naval training which enabled him to work in the then budding field of computer technology at Electronics Associates, Inc. and Concurrent Computer Corp.
Bob enjoyed keeping his home and his possessions in tip top condition. He never hesitated to put his family first—even when it meant selling his beloved 1967 Camaro to buy the family’s first home.
He was a daily swimmer in the Heritage Point indoor pool and considered the lap lane his own. He continued to swim his 40 laps a day up to eight weeks before his death.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Kathie; two amazing sons, David and his wife, Lisa of Oakhurst, NJ, Martin of Portland, OR; two grandchildren, Megan Boyd, Burbank, CA and Sean Boyd, Neptune, NJ; a brother, Al Boyd of Elkton, MD.
Services will be private under the direction of Barnegat Funeral Home. (www.BarnegatFH.com)
