Maryann Tierney

Maryann Tierney of Forked River, NJ passed away at home March 31, 2018 after a long illness. She was born in Long Branch, NJ Christmas day in 1940, and grew up in Ridgewood, NJ. After graduating from RHS in 1958, Maryann went on to graduate from Bouve Boston/Tufts University in 1962 and later earned her master’s at Georgian Court College. Maryann taught Physical Education and Health at RHS for many years and particularly enjoyed teaching Project Adventure and coaching the tennis team. She retired from RHS to live in Forked River, NJ She is survived by her sister, Noreen T. and brother-in-law Bruce J. Poitrast of Kingsport, TN and her nephew, Daniel J. Poitrast of San Antonio, TX. A Memorial Mass will be offered Wed., Aug. 1, 2018 at 9:30 AM at St. Mary’s Church, Barnegat, NJ. According to her wishes, Maryann was cremated. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Barnegat Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. (www.BarnegatFH.com)
