To my precious Aunt Ro, and to my dear cousins Paul, Pat, Katie & Mathew:
Our hearts go out to you for your loss of a dear husband and a wonderful father and grandfather. Uncle Mat will always be remembered with such love and admiration deep within our hearts. He was a pillar in all of our celebrated holidays and family gatherings. He was kind, funny, creative and an excellent cook! He always had a great joke ready at any given time and I often wondered how many of those jokes he had stored up in his mind (he had an endless supply). He also loved God and faithfully served Him in his Church for many years. There will forever be a missing void (and an empty place at the table saved just for him in our memory), until we meet again.
We are happy for Uncle Mat now that he is walking with our Lord Jesus, laughing with Mario Jr and our grandparents in glory.
We will Always love all of you.

To our precious sister Ro, and to Paul, Pat and family:
We are so sorry for your loss – and we feel it too. Mat meant so much to all of us because we shared so many happy memories and have been through so much together as “family.”
To me (Joanne) He was the son my mom and dad always wanted – he never answered them back (though I knew that he wanted to sometimes!). And, he was the big brother that I always wanted. Mat was smart and always knew when I (Joanne) was lying! He was a comrade, and a best friend, and always came straight to the point. Now He has left his scooter and is walking, running, fishing and cooking in heaven...May he rest in peace.
To me (Joe) Mat was a friend that I will never forget and we had lots of fun together. We were both very happy hunting and fishing, and that we did for many long years. Mat especially loved baseball and the Yankees. In later years I moved to Florida, but always kept in touch. I will miss him dearly and will be his friend forever.
We can go on and on, and we want to say so much more, yet for both of us, words are insufficient. We are very sorry we are not able to make the long trip and be there, but be assured we are with you in spirit and with tears. May God Bless Mat with wide open doors to the Kingdom! Until we meet in Heaven.

To Aunt Ro and to our cousin Paul and his family:
We love you and our hearts break with yours. We are all praying for God’s comfort to carry you through. Uncle Mat was one of a kind...a rare gem...set in his ways, but his ways were good.
Uncle Mat “spoke” to us in many ways, and all that he stood for speaks to us even louder now - Uncle Mat was a principled man, a faithful, reliable and responsible man who worked hard to set a good example…he accomplished that goal and more, and therefore he leaves us with a bright light.
This week, it was well said (By James) that the only enemies Uncle Mat ever had were the deer! ...BUT in honor of Uncle Mat, who almost always had a new joke for us whenever we saw him - I would also like to add a few more enemies to that enemy list - the fish, the pheasant, squirrels, "wabbits," and anything else that could be "frica-seared!"
Thank you Uncle Mat for your example - we are sure to smile (and even cry) whenever we recall our many fond memories of you....we will miss you, but we are assured in Christ Jesus to see you (and Mario Jr) again someday.

It was my privilege to be with Mario and Rosemarie for the last five years. Mario was always ready with a story from all his adventures in life. He loved to share the many stages of what had happened to him both good and bad. His most joy and pride was his family. He was so very proud of Paul and could never stop bragging of his wonderful grandson and granddaughter and all of their various accomplishments. But he truly loved and looked forward to their visits with him so he could cook their special foods and share quality time when they stopped for lunch. I will miss him and am very grateful for his friendship. Lee Bach
