Louis A. Tirelli, 83, of Manahawkin, NJ, beloved husband and best friend of Louise (DiLorenzo) for 57 years, succumbed to Alzheimer’s at his home surrounded by the ones he laughed with, lived for, and loved unconditionally.  Born in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY to Louis and Margaret (Clark) Tirelli, he lived most of his life in the Metropolitan New York area, retiring to Manahawkin, NJ.

Louis was a passionate and cultured man who enjoyed the arts, theatre, opera, jazz, museums, reading and power walking.  He received a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from The Cooper Union in 1962.  He met his wife while working as an Electrical Engineer at Western Electric.  He received his JD from Fordham Law School in 1968, and started a private law practice specializing in patent and criminal law in Spring Valley, NY.

He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Ann Tirelli (Sister Margaret Louis) order of Sisters of St. Dominic, Amityville, and his brother, Sebastian "Sal" Tirelli.  He attended Cathedral Prep Seminary and served in the United States Army.

Nothing was more important than family to Louis.  He raised his beloved family in Spring Valley, NY. He was extremely loving and very proud of them.  Besides his wife, Louise, Lou is survived by his daughter, Maria (James Lugo) of Congers, NY; his two sons, David (Lori Masker), Oradell, NJ and Peter (Carrieann Beddows), Yonkers, NY, as well as his eight grandchildren: Amanda, Christian, DJ, Julianna, Anya, Anthony, Natalia and Isabella.  He is also survived by his sister, Margie (Phil) Rzykiewicz of Canton, GA, as well as many loving nieces, nephews and other friends.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to his caregiver, Nana, and the members of Hospice.  Their dedication and effort to provide quality care over his last days were a heartwarming blessing to the entire family.  We thank God for the gift of his life and the blessing of the time we spent with him.
