Joseph Breese Obituary

Joseph W. Breese, 81, of Barnegat passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Long Branch, NJ to his late parents, Abraham and Alice Breese, he was raised in New Brunswick and lived in North Brunswick before retiring to Barnegat. Joseph enjoyed watching and rooting for his favorite baseball team, the NY Mets.  After retiring to the Mirage, he enjoyed playing billiards, winning the very first tournament in 2003, and playing Poker, Bocce, Ping Pong and Darts with his buddies. Joe appreciated the simplicity of life and cherished the time he spent with family and close friends.

He loved teaching and playing cards with all of his grandchildren, taking day trips, vacationing in Florida, attending dances at his club house with his wife…but what brought him the most joy was listening to his daughter sing to him.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 57 years, Frances (nee Grossman) Breese; his two loving children and their spouses, Shari and Vern Henderson, Darrin and Bettyanne Breese; five cherished grandchildren, Holly, Gabby, Kyle, Jack and Matt; three devoted siblings, Abraham  (wife Margie),  Edward (wife Barbara)  and Loretta; several loving nieces and nephews; also his honorary children, Deanna McBride, Tracey Zilinski, Jim Zilinski (wife Karen), Gina Shaw; his honorary grandchildren, Donnie, Jimmy, Ryan, Kelsey and the late Janna. Joseph was also predeceased by his sister, Margaret Kovacs and his brother, Henry Breese.

A Memorial Gathering will be held Sunday 11 to 1 PM with a time for sharing from 12:30 to 1 PM at the Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 W. Bay Ave., Barnegat.
