John Sinnicki Obituary

John George Sinnicki Age 87 of Barnegat passed peacefully on Saturday March 9, 2019. 

John was born February 20, 1932 in Bayonne, New Jersey to Joseph and Stella Sinnicki.

John was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served in the Korean War.  John participated in the Battle of The Chosin Reservoir.    

John was a member of America Legion Post 232   John was a life member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans Post 91, Elizabeth, New Jersey, where he was the State Commander for several years.  Additionally, John was a member of The Korean War Veterans Association as well as the Chosin Few Mid-Atlantic Chapter.

On June 15, 1963 John married Marian Makowski of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.   They met while serving together in the U.S. Foreign Service in San Jose, Costa Rica.

John retired from the U. S. Foreign Service after 40 years of service.  John received a service commendation for his efforts in reopening the U S Embassy in Kuwait after the conflict Desert Storm.  John previously resided in Annandale, Virginia. 

John’s proudest moment was his efforts in the creation of a memorial dedicated on November 11, 2006 at the former Military Ocean Terminal in Bayonne, New Jersey to the eight members of B Company of the 21st Infantry Battalion of the United States Marine Corps who gave their lives in defense of their country in the Korean War.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 55 years, Marian J. Sinnicki; two loving children and their spouses, John and Carrie Sinnicki, Sandy and Tom Rogan; five cherished grandchildren, Tom, Jr., and Kelly Rogan, Marie, John Robert and Shannon Sinnicki; two sisters, Theresa Czachur and husband Ted Czachur and Claire Sinnicki. He was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Edward Sinnicki.

Viewing Tuesday, March 12, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 W. Bay Ave., barnegat. Mass of Christian Burial offered Wednesday 10 AM at St. Mary's Church, Barnegat. Interment to follow in Bg. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Vet. Mem. Cemetery, Arneytown.
