Joan P. Rivers

Joan P. Rivers, 84, of Barnegat passed January 11, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. Born in New York City to her late parents, James and Edna Oefelein, she resided in Staten Island before moving to Perth Amboy, NJ where she worked as a nurses aide at the Raritan Bay Medical Center for 31 years. Joan retired to Barnegat, NJ in 1998.

Predeceased by five siblings, Richard, Harry, William and James Oefelein and Frances Drury, she is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, John J. Rivers; four loving children and their spouses, John and Susan Rivers, Deborah and Edward Hacker, Kathleen and William Osvath, James and Michele Rivers; six cherished grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, Jessica, John, James and Nicholas; three cherished great grandchildren, Christopher, Samantha and Savannah; her devoted sister, Edna Parzygnat.

Viewing Tuesday, January 15, 2019 from 4 to 8 PM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 W. Bay Ave., Barnegat. Mass offered Wednesday 10 AM at St. Mary’s Church, Barnegat. Interment will follow in Bg. Gen.
