Janet M. Hurley

On Friday, January 10, 2020, Janet M. Hurley, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister passed away peacefully at the age of 82 at home.  Janet was born in 1937 in Bayonne, NJ to Edward and Mary (Dorio) Gesek. She graduated from Bayonne HIgh School and spent the majority of her life as a florist at Bayonne Florist.  Upon retirement, she moved to Barnegat to spend more time with her grandchildren.  

    Janet wed Leo Hurley in May,1956.  Together they raised 3 children and were blessed with 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.  

    Janet had a passion for decorating.  Her floral arrangements were beautiful and the complimenting bows were one of a kind.  She enjoyed crocheting blankets, playing cards and trying her luck at the slot machines in Atlantic City.  Most of all, Janet loved spending time with her great-grandchildren.

    Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Leo;  her parents, Edward and Mary Gesek; and her daughter, Susan; She is survived by her daughter Eileen and husband Donald Molloy; granddaughter Amanda and husband Arthur; grandson Sean B. Molloy and wife Lydia; Great-Grandchildren Ashley and Alyson Sojak, Sean and Ethan Molloy; Siblings Elaine Lawless, Joan Nuzzi, John and Anita Gesek, Edward and Lucille Gesek; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

    Janet will be greatly missed by her family.

Viewing Monday, January 13, 2020 from 11 AM to 1 PM with a Blessing to follow 1 PM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 W. Bay Ave., Barnegat. Entombment will be in Ocean County Memorial Park Mausoleum, Waretown, NJ. (BarnegatFH.com)
