Harry J. Cohan, Jr., 86, of Barnegat, NJ passed peacefully on Tuesday, October 22, 2019. Born in South Amboy, NJ he is a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. Harry resided in East Brunswick for many years, where he served with the East Brunswick Police Department and earned the rank of Detective Sergeant. Being civic minded, he also served as a former Chief and Past President of the Old Bridge Volunteer Fire Department. Harry's interests and abilities led him to work as a Realtor and a Contractor which once again he put to use for the good of his community. He was instrumental in the building of two firehouses in East Brunswick. He always enjoyed fishing, boating and time spent at the shore with his family.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 64 years, Joan Cohan; four loving children, Donna-Jo Cohan (Cari), Brian Cohan (Tammy), Colleen Johnson (Mitch), Todd Cohan (Emily); seven cherished grandchildren, Alexis, Hannah, Ashley, Erin, Zarina, Kyle and Hudson; five devoted sisters, Ann Marie, Leona, Eleanor, Dolores and Judy.
Viewing Monday, October 28, 2019 from 6 to 9 PM with a Blessing Service at 8 PM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 West Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ. Entombment Tuesday 11:30 AM in Frost Woods Memorial Park, East Brunswick, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
