Frederick Smith, 89, of Manahawkin passed Saturday, April 1, 2017. Born in Newark, NJ to his late parents, Frederick and Cecelia Smith, he started working for the Great A&P Tea Co. in Montvale, NJ at the age of 15. After a 2 year absence to serve in the US Army during the Korean War, he returned to his job to retire after 50 years. Frederick then pursued his art career, which started as a passion in his childhood. A gifted artist and member of the Art Association, he was also an excellent billiards player and an avid fan of boxing, attending many of the bouts held in Atlantic City, NJ.

Fred was loved by all who met him. Always with a smile on his face, children were attracted to his kind heart.

Surviving is his beloved wife of 63 years, Dorothy (Domino) Smith, three loving sons, Frederick and wife Annette Smith, Ronald Smith, Roger and wife Debbie Smith; cherished granddaughter, Corby; cherished great granddaughter, Melania.

Viewing Thursday, April 6th from 4 to 8 PM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 West Bay Ave., Barnegat. Mass offered Friday 9:30 AM at St. Mary's Church, Barnegat. Interment to follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, NJ.
