In Memory of Donna Hornig
Donna Ann Hornig, 59, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, April 21, 2019. Born in Newark, New Jersey in 1959, she is predeceased by her parents, Julian and Jennie Pruszkowski and father-in-law, Thomas Hornig. Donna graduated from St. Michael’s Catholic School in Union and Union High School. As a parishioner of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, she was actively involved in the CYO, becoming the second female president of the organization. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Rutgers University. Donna worked as a National Bank Examiner and Capital Lead Expert for the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, an agency of the Treasury Department, for 34 years. Donna devoted her life to raising her four daughters into strong women. During retirement, Donna enjoyed babysitting her beloved grandchildren as her mother did with her children, traveling with family and friends, and spending time at her favorite place, Beach Haven West.
Donna is survived by her husband of 34 years, Gary Hornig, sister Barbara Macecsko (George), brother Raymond Pruszkowski (Kathleen), mother-in-law Ann Hornig, four daughters Kathryn Sullivan (Jason), Jacquelyn Furchak (Brian), Sandra Hornig, Jenny Hornig, two grandchildren Maisie Sullivan and Jacob Furchak, three sisters-in-law Karen Hempsted, Lisa Ferro (Frank), and Nancy Truitt, and twelve nieces and nephews.
A mass to celebrate Donna’s life will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church at 1212 Kelly Street, Union, NJ 07083 at 10:30am.
