Cynthia (Valgemae) McConnell, 62, passed surrounded by her loving family on Monday, May 21, 2018. Cynthia was born and raised in Pt. Pleasant, NJ which is where she developed a life long love of the beach. She was a long-time resident of Barnegat Twsp., NJ where she worked as the Planning and Zoning Administrator, before her retirement. Cynthia and her husband James enjoyed vacationing in Venice, FL, (though anytime they were together they were already in paradise) and decided to relocate there earlier this year.
Cynthia was a loving a devoted mother and grandmother. She relished in her grandmotherly duties. She truly cherished each of her grandchildren. She was a loyal and steadfast friend, good for the sunny skies and the bad weather of life. She was a fierce advocate for causes that she believed in. She loved enjoying local culture be it art, music, or cuisine. She was happiest at the beach, because she truly had the soul of a mermaid.
Surviving are her beloved husband, James C McConnell, who gave Cynthia the happiest years of her life. Her three loving children, Jason Rahn (Melissa Minarik), Lynda Nagy and Brian Rahn (Taylor Kessler); three loving step-children, Christopher Warner (Caryn), Jaime McConnell and Heather Dringus (Joseph); her cherished grandchildren; her devoted sister, Marlena Brown and many loving nieces and nephews.
