Bernard Laufgas

Bernard Laufgas, 74, of Barnegat passed July 25, 2018 at home surrounded by family and friends. Born June 26, 1944 in Kazakhstan, he came to the United States of America in 1948 and attended George Westinghouse High School in Brooklyn, NY from which he graduated. He entered the Navy in 1968 and served for 4 years 11 months 17 days as an A2.

Bernard met and married his late wife, Rivka in 1970. Shortly after they moved to New Jersey and started a family, welcoming sons Henry in 1971 and David in 1980. Eventually settling in Barnegat where they were longtime residents. Bernard worked as a Dental Technician for many years. He worked in Atlantic City casinos for a short time, then opened and operated his own company making dentures, from which he retired in the early 1990s. Bernard attended Ocean County College majoring in Political Science for one semester then transferred to Stockton University which he graduated from in 1982.

He enjoyed his retired years being very active in his community and spending time with his family. He especially loved watching his grandsons Jacob, Bryan and Liam grow. He loved seeing the joy in their faces.

Bernard is preceded in death by his loving wife, Rivka, his grandparents, parents, and brother, Simon. He is survived by his sons, Henry and David; daughters-in-law, Marissa and Shannon; grandsons, Jacob, Bryan, and Liam; his brother, Abraham; nieces and nephews and many friends.

Viewing Wednesday, August 1st from 4 to 8 PM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 W. Bay Ave., Barnegat. Funeral Thursday 9 AM at funeral home with Services to begin at 9:30 AM. Interment 11:30 AM in Bg. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Vet. Mem. Cemetery, Wrightstown. (www.BarnegatFH.com)
