Arcangelo Truppa Obituary

Archie was born & raised in Rahway where he lived for 70 years before moving to Barnegat in 1999. He is predeceased by his wife Mildred (LaGuardia) of 50 years. He attended Union County College & Rutgers University and served in US Army during the Korean War. Archie retired from Amoco Oil Co. after 38 years working in sales, marketing, distribution and real estate leasing. Also serving as Plant Chairman & Vice-President of Local 8-397 of the Oil & Atomic Workers Union. Active parishioner of St. Mary’s Church, Rahway, then Barnegat and member of the Holy Name Society. He was also a member of Rahway Retired Men’s Club, American Legion Post #5, honorary lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1146, transferring to Council #3826, and member of the Italian American Club of Manahawkin. Archie was very active in Heritage Bay Social Club, pool supervisor, billiards and men’s card night.

Family always a priority, he loved spending time with all of them, especially playing golf with his son-in-law & grandson and helping his granddaughter at her catering business in the kitchen. Archie also enjoyed spending time with his friends, especially Cathy & Nick, playing pool, golfing, fishing, making wine & Italian ice which he shared with his family & friends at the clubhouse.

Survived by daughters Diane Mohel and Kevin McLaughlin, and Lisa Swinicki and husband Darrell, grandchildren Kayla Swinicki and fiancé Maurice Badway & Drew Swinicki and fiancé Ivana Chiriboga, brothers Louis (Richie) and Eugene (Gene), sisters Ann Cunicella and Loretta Syko, many nieces & nephews. Predeceased by sister Gloria DePaolo.

A gentleman to everyone, he always had a smile on his face and always tried to maintain a proper decorum during his life.

Viewing Monday, April 22, 2019 from 4 to 8 PM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 W. Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ. Mass offered Tuesday 1 PM at St. Mary’s Church, Barnegat. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Manahawkin. (www.BarnegatFH.com)
