Ann Fullerton Obituary

Ann Fullerton (Luchenta) passed away at Southern Ocean Center on September 6th, 2019, just 4 days shy of her 97th birthday.Born and raised in Jersey City, NJ Ann later resided in New York, Union Beach, NJ, Hazlet, NJ, Margate, FL, Toms River, NJ and then moved into Leisure Knoll in Manchester in 2003 where she resided until the beginning of this year before becoming a resident at Southern Ocean Center/Genesis Healthcare in Manahawkin, NJ.

She loved to reminisce about the earlier years of her life which she spent helping her parents in their restaurant business, dancing at the Copacabana and being a receptionist at a prestigious hair salon in NY. She was a woman who “wore many hats.” She organized fashion shows and spaghetti dinners, volunteered at hospitals, served as a Eucharistic minister at the churches she belonged to over the years, sang in a church choir and various other activities that always kept her busy.

Ann loved to socialize and was very active in various organizations/clubs in Leisure Knoll such as the Red Hat Society, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary 10022, Italian American Club and the FootLiters. She also served as a pool monitor and enjoyed dressing up and going to the monthly dances as well as bus trips to Atlantic City.

Some of the highlights throughout her life were the many memories she created with her parents and siblings growing up, traveling with Clarence to tropical islands, a trip to Italy with a close friend, her 90th birthday celebration, and the arrival of her first great grandchild; Amelia Grace.

She loved to dance and sing and enjoyed cooking for her family when they came to visit. You could always find her out on the dance floor at any social or family event.

She is preceded in death by her parents; 6 siblings; her first husband, John Farley; her step-son, Paul Fullerton and her beloved husband of 40 years, Clarence Fullerton in 2017.

Surviving are 2 brothers; Ralph Lucante of Toms River, and Natale Luchento of Freehold; her 2 daughters she raised as her own: Nanette Jefferson (Jerome Keel) of Glendale, NY, and Aelee Maltese (Shawn Maltese) of Manahawkin, NJ; 2 step-children and her step-grandchildren; a grandson, Kaine Jefferson; 2 great granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.

A heartfelt thank you to Doris Hargrove, her wonderful caregiver of a year and a half. The family would also like to thank Senior Helpers as well as Southern Ocean Center and Encompass Hospice for their care and support.
