ALBERT M. BUCHANAN, 90, “BIG AL”, “POP-POP”, formerly of Orange and West Orange

 Albert Mahlon Buchanan, 90, passed away peacefully at home in Barnegat, NJ on August 9, 2017 surrounded by his loved ones.  Born in Orange, NJ on July 16, 1927, he recently celebrated his 90th birthday with the entire Buchanan Clan.  He joined the U.S. Navy in 1945 and sailed to Shanghai, China on the USS IBEX.  An auto mechanic by trade, he worked at several dealerships, and owned and operated Joe & Al’s Mobil Service in Orange.  Al and Joan raised their family in W. Orange for 30 years and retired to Barnegat, NJ 23 years ago.  He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Joan, his children William (Elizabeth), Linda Santucci (Vincent), Gary (Nancy), Timothy (Deborah), Robert (Scott), and John (Linda); 9 Grandkids and 6 Great-Grandchildren. Viewing will be held at the Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 W. Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ on Sunday August 13 from 2-6 pm.  Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, 747 W. Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ on Monday August 14 at 11 am.  Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Barnegat.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to Cystic Fibrosis.  For further information or to leave a remembrance please go to www.barnegatfh.com.
