Susan Monteforte Obituary

Monteforte, Susan B. (nee Alexander) “Sue”, -68 of Barnegat, NJ, passed away on March 10, 2024.  She was born in Hazlet, NJ on November 18, 1955, to the late James and Virginia (Styers) Alexander.  She was the last born of 4 children and being the only girl, remembered being spoiled and loved dearly as a child.  She was predeceased by all her brothers, Lawrence (Georgia), James (Paula) Richard (Cheryl).  She has numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  She graduated from Brick Township High School.

Sue married John G. Monteforte on December 13th, 1980.  They have resided in Barnegat for the last 30 years.  Together they have 3 children; Megan (Michael), Michael (Jennifer) and John (Maryrose).  She has 7 beautiful grandchildren, Alexander, Justin, Shane, Sean, Riley, Lincoln and Elliana.

Sue has worked as a waitress, a physical therapy assistant and a housecleaner.  In her younger years, she proudly earned her black belt in karate.  She enjoyed watching crime shows and Bravo’s reality shows.  Her favorites were all of the drama filled “Housewives” series.  She would text her daughter late night asking what was the next good show on Netflix?  She participated in the breast cancer Race for the Cure as team “Treasure Chest” annually to honor her mother.  She enjoyed years of Disney vacations with her family and grandkids, Sean and Riley.  She looked forward to visiting her sister-in-law, Shelly and niece, Jeannette during these trips. She was planning and looking forward to an upcoming Disney vacation which would have also included her youngest grandchildren, Lincoln and Elliana.

Family was the most important thing to her.  She loved spending time with family and spoiling her grandchildren.  It was known that “Grandma’s House” was where you made gingerbread houses for Christmas, played with race cars, baked cookies and brownies, played with Play-Doh and slime and went swimming.  She looked forward to family get -togethers and celebrating holidays and birthdays.

She was a wonderful wife, the best mother and grandmother.  She was a best friend and confidant.  She was always there for all of the highs and lows of life, a shoulder to cry on and open arms for that big hug you needed. She had a love for dogs and mourned the loss of Buddy and welcomed in Amber- her couch buddy at night.

Sue will be greatly missed by her friends and family.  Her memory will live on in the hearts of those that loved her.

The family will be having a small gathering at the family home in Barnegat for family and friends who wish to express their condolences on Sunday, March 17, 2024 from 1p-3p.
