Dr Vicente Marquez Uriarte Jr, 90, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle passed away on 10th March 2024 in Manahawkin, New Jersey. Born in La Carlota, Philippines in 1934 to his late parents, Saludacion and Vicente Sr., Vicente enjoyed much of his childhood in Barbaza, Antique with his beloved “Nanay Codiang.”
Encouraged by his loving father, Vicente embarked on his journey in medicine. He graduated from Manila Central University in 1963 marking the beginning of a lifelong commitment to healing others.
In 1967, Vicente was the first in his family to emigrate to the United States. His ambitions led him to New York City, then in 1968 he met his future wife, Fe, in Connecticut. Their journey together took them through Cornwall, New York, and Long Island, before they settled in New Milford, New Jersey, to nurture their growing family.
Vicente set up his own private practice in New Jersey but spent most of his career in the fast-paced environment of the Emergency Room. Throughout his professional life, he found fulfillment in serving others during their times of greatest need.
In 2000, Vicente and Fe relocated to Manahawkin, New Jersey, where he continued his medical service, contributing part-time at a veterans hospital until well into his 70s. An intelligent, outgoing and hardworking individual, Vicente's life was not confined to medicine alone. He found solace in the pages of books, the tranquility of fishing, gardening, the camaraderie of card games, and the thrill of watching boxing and Western movies. His heart was always drawn to the shores of New Jersey. He always knew how to make us laugh and his storytelling was entertaining. Vicente enjoyed listening to Frank Sinatra. He was often singing along!
Above all, Vicente cherished his family. He found happiness with Fe, Leslie, Robert, Karl. His grandchildren Emma, Ethan, Oliver, and Henry made his heart full with pride.
In remembrance of Vicente's remarkable life, let us celebrate the legacy of a man who not only healed bodies but also brought joy to the lives he touched.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Fe; three loving children, Leslie Uriarte Skinner and husband, James Skinner, Robert V. Uriarte and wife, Dr. Beth Uriarte and Karl Uriarte; four cherished grandchildren, Emma Uriarte, Ethan Uriarte, Oliver Uriarte Skinner and Henry Uriarte Skinner; five sisters, Lydia and husband, David Boyle, Dr. Marina Uriarte, Helen Uriarte, Aida Uriarte and Dr. Leilane Sta Romana and Dr. Ismael Sta Romana; brothers, Romeo Uriarte and wife, Grace and Roberto Uriarte.
