Ann Rezza

Ann Virginia Rezza, Beloved Mother, Sister, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, 99. 

Mrs. Ann Virginia (nee Pirrello Rezza, 99 of Manahawkin and formerly of Bloomfield, NJ passed away peacefully on March 9, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.

Services will be at the Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 West Bay Avenue, Barnegat, NJ 08005 on Friday, March 22, 2024  

Ann was born on September 30,1924.  A lifelong resident of Bloomfield, she retired to Manahawkin in 1999. She worked for many years as an administrator with Geiger Brothers in Lyndhurst, New Jersey. Ann devoted her life to her large extended family which beyond her own children included many nieces, nephews and cousins. Ann always enjoyed baking, cooking, and was known locally as “The Biscotti Lady,” as she sent her cookies across miles to family members all over the country.

She was predeceased by her parents Giuseppe and Maria Amorosa Pirrello, her husband Mike Rezza, her daughter Cheryl Mulgrew and son in law Eugene Mulgrew and her siblings, Anthony Pirrello, Frank Pirrello, and Salvatore Pirrello. Ann was also predeceased by her treasured friends Antoinette Pirrello, Virginia Papa, and companion William George.

Ann is survived by her sister Josephine Caponigro of Weddington, North Carolina and Carl Pirrello of Cedar Grove, New Jersey, sister-in-law Ella Pirrello of Cedar Grove, New Jersey, son Donald Abernethy and wife MaryLee of Vero Beach, Florida, grandchildren Kristen and her husband Kyle Grzymko, Michelle Mulgrew, Donny Abernethy, Michael Mulgrew, and by her four great-grandchildren Oliver and Carter Abernethy, and Annabelle and Kyler Grzymko, and by many beloved nieces and nephews.            

Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024 from 10-11:30 AM with a Memorial Service to begin at 11:30 AM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 West Bay Ave. Barnegat. (www.BarnegatFH.com)
