Robert H. Scherer, 74, of Barnegat, NJ passed December 24, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family. A US Army Veteran of The Vietnam War, he served as Chief of Police for Chatham Twp. where he resided, before retiring to Manahawkin and later settling in Barnegat.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 51 years, Mary Anne (Rourke) Scherer; three loving children, Robert J. Scherer, Patrick M. Scherer and wife Corrine, Kathleen Lento; nine cherished grandchildren; two devoted sisters, Nancy Murin and Rita Rooney.

Memorial Mass Friday, Dec. 29th 11 AM at St. Mary of The Pines Church, Manahawkin with interment of cremains to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
