Richard Johnston, 86, of Barnegat, passed away on August 30th at Southern Ocean Medical Center. He was born in the Bronx on September 8th, 1930, to William and Elsie Johnston. Dick spent summers on City Island, NY, where he would eventually meet his wife, Janet Longo. They married on April 26th, 1958. Dick was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and, after his discharge, began his career with the New York Telephone Company and AT&T. A long-time resident of Ardsley, NY, Dick and Janet moved to Barnegat more than 20 years ago.

Predeceased by his brother, William Johnston, Dick is survived by his wife, Janet, and their children, Karen, Richard and Eric. He is also survived by his grandson, Zane, and his granddaughters, Anastasia, Sophia, Elizabeth and Maeve.
