Philip Gehr Ridinger (91 years old) of Barnegat, New Jersey, died September 6th, 2017. He was born on October 4th, 1925 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania to Howard and Amy Ridinger. He is predeceased in death by the following siblings: Howard William, Betty Jane, Emory Kenneth, George Richard, John Melchior, and David Harold. The last remaining sibling is Margaret Ann Paris of Gettysburg.

Philip graduated from Gettysburg High School, Class of 1943. He was enlisted in the Army from 1943-1946 and fought in World War II. He served in the Second Battalion, 347th Infantry Regiment in the 87th Infantry Division. He fought in Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe.

He received the Combat Infantry Expert M1 Rifle and Expert Infantry Expert Carbine badges. He was decorated with the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with three Bronze Stars. Philip was honorably discharged as a Corporal in 1946.

Philip attended Lehigh University from 1946-1949 and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering with high honors. He received his Masters of Science from Stevens Institute of Technology in 1960. He had a long career in Research and Development with Bell Laboratories.

He was married in 1953 to Jeanne DeRosa. He is survived by his wife Jeanne and his four children: Gayle Ridinger of Milan, Italy; Dr. Robin Ridinger of Clifton, Virginia; Lisa Ridinger of Glen Ellyn, Illinois; and Dr. Mark Ridinger, of North Carolina. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren: Alexis, Olivia, Gabrielle, Daniel, Colin, Joshua, and Min-Min.

Service will be at Monahan Funeral Parlor in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on October 21st, 2017. The family will receive visitors at 10:00 AM, and the service will start at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
