June A. Decker (nee Bell) passed on June 2, 2017. Born June 30, 1929, in Linden, N.J., to her late parents, Margaret and Victor Bell Sr., and raised in Elizabeth, N.J., June was the eldest of 14 children. She attended Elizabeth public schools and went on to attend Jersey City College (now NJCU), where she studied culinary arts, a passion that followed her through life. June was employed as a cafeteria manager in the Elizabeth public school district. June retired to Atlantic City, N.J., and later to Asbury Park, N.J. June was affectionately known by her family as "Ma" or "Aunt June."
June was predeceased by her parents, Victor and Margaret Bell; two sons, Joseph B. and David; her brothers, Ronald, Valentine, Victor, Richard, and William; her sisters, Elizabeth, Carol, Patricia and Nancy, along with three nieces and nephews and one great-niece.
She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Fine (Charles), and son, Dr. Thomas Decker (Janet); her sisters, Diane Ballman, Margaret Corcoran (James) and Ellen Munnings (James); brother, Robert Bell; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth D'Allegro, Lois and Hisano Bell; grandchildren, Nicole, J. Brian, Lindsay (Brian), Chelsea, Morgan (Ernest), Michael, and Jessica; great-grandchildren, Alexa (Ryan), Joseph, Bennett, Eliana June, Matthew, Bryson, Lyla, Easton, and Olivia; one great-great-granddaughter, Maya; 41 nieces and nephews and 32 great-nieces and nephews.
Memorial gathering is on Sunday, June 4, from 2 to 4 p.m. with a Blessing Service to follow at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 W. Bay Ave., Barnegat, N.J. (BarnegatFH.com).
