George R. McMurray, 87, of Barnegat, NJ passed on Sunday, June 18, 2017. He was born in Detroit, MI and spent his early life in Brooklyn, NY.  In 1979 he retired as a Sgt.Major from the US Army after 29 years of service and is a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars.  During his army career he was stationed in New Jersey, Germany, Virginia, Texas and Alabama.  After retirement from the army George worked 22 years for an aviation defense contractor at Fort Rucker,AL and completed a Masters of Science degree in Personnel Management from Troy University.  In 2016 he made the move to Barnegat, NJ to be closer to family.  George is predeceased by hie sister, Evelyn O'Connor.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Ann E. (Carr) McMurray; his loving son, Brian McMurray and his wife Linda; two cherished grandchildren, Bradley and Amanda; his loving niece Kathy O'Connor; his loving nephew, Craig O'Connor; and his faithful furry companions Alfi and Buffy.
