Bette was one incredible bold, brassy broad!!! All these terms I say with deep love. Her presence lit up a room whether people were family, friends, or strangers. Bette's energy was infectious. It is so fitting that memorials are suggested to Frelinghuysen Arboretum, a space where all adults and children, regardless of ability, can savor beauty. Bette, you were a beauty and will be deeply missed. Many hugs to Joe, Joe Jr. and Chris, Patty, Maggie and Joe and all your family. Love from Minnesota, Jim and Lee Heilman

Joe, we were very sorry to hear about your Mother, you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Bobby and I had many conversations with your Mother and Dad while you were in the hospital, they are wonderful folks. She was telling us about making "anise" cookies, we had never heard of them but had no desire to try them until she spelled the word anise, she had a good laugh with two NC country boys trying to figure out what she was talking about. Tell your Dad hey, we are thinking of him too. call if you need anything.
